The Bijwasan Farmhouse project was planned during the lockdown period, with the client recognizing the importance of open spaces close to nature for their aging parents and young children. The design focused on creating a contemporary residence centered around a water body, providing ample space and amenities for hosting family and friends. The objective was to establish a strong connection between the interiors and exteriors, requiring collaboration between the architect and interior designer from the project's inception.

The Pool: The highlight of the pool is the use of white ceramic tiles, allowing for an immersive experience of the water's true turquoise color, reminiscent of Santorini pools. This large multi-functional pool features a paddling pool, jacuzzi, lap pool, and a bar at the infinity edge. A shading structure spans the entire length of the pool, equipped with trickling water curtains to protect users from the scorching sun during summers. It offers a refuge where one can enjoy the sensation of artificial rain falling on them.

Pool Deck: The pool deck is paved with a combination of pine wood and ceramic, enveloping the pool and connecting to the spacious lawn behind it. It is designed to accommodate poolside parties, with the doors and windows of the bedrooms on one side and a long, narrow pergola on the other side. The pergola houses change rooms, open showers, a gazebo, and an outdoor kitchen. A special drainage system beneath the deck ensures a consistent finished floor level throughout the interior and exterior spaces. The living floor, deck floor, and water in the pool are all at the same level. Additionally, a lone frangipani tree enclosed in a minimal enclosure symbolizes hope emerging in the post-pandemic times.

Entry Porch: The raised entrance of the house is approached through a captivating combination of steps sheltered under a large modern porch, creating a drop-off zone around a landscaped roundabout. The porch features a roof soffit lined with solid pine wood supported by slender mild steel girders, adding a touch of elegance to the entrance.
